FGF (Forschungsgemeinschaft Feuefest e. V., located in Höhr-Grenzhausen, Germany) is an independent research center for refractories. FGF directly supports the refractory industry and especially the SMEs. It is active in the field of high temperature characterisation of refractories and aims at creating and disseminating scientific information, within the corresponding industrial community.
The key qualification of FGF is the development of new and enhanced high temperature testing methods for refractory materials. Previously developed methods include high-temperature thermal shock cycling or testing methods for determination of thermal and mechanical materials properties under controlled atmospheres. Testing is partnered with thermo-mechanical simulation of refractory linings or monolithics.

Our latest research topics:
FGF carries out, amongst others, pre-competetive research projects. The results of such projects are openly available to the refractory world. The main interest of FGF in such projects is to develop new methods and techniques to characterise the high-temperature performance of refractories.
